MLS® $1,795,000 Sammamish 21112 SE 27th St, Sammamish
Pine Lake 5,503 sq. ft. 4 3 1988

Sammamish, Washington is an Eastside suburb of Seattle nestled between Isssaquah and Redmond; rising from eastern shores of Lake Sammamish with magnificent views of the Cascade Mountains.  This area was once known as the Issaquah Plateau and the Redmond Plateau. The name 'Sammamish' is derived from two Northwest Indian words - "Samena or hunter" and "Mish or people."

Sammamish is a community of residential, lakefront, and golf course neighborhoods with diverse civic, cultural and educational opportunities. Besides Lake Sammamish, many residents enjoy waterfront living on Pine Lake or Beaver Lake.  The tree-lined streets and well-groomed neighborhoods make it an ideal community in which to raise a family.

The City of Sammamish is the newest of King County's cities Incorporated in August 1999.  As it's own city, Sammamish is still taking shape as roads, parks, and other city infrastructure are still being designed and built.  The Sammamish Town Center Project includes an ambitious effort to create a new Town Center in the heart of the City.  The City is also in the process of construction a new city hall, police station, recreation center and a 20-acra park in the Town Center project area.  Several new parks are planned, such as Soaring Eagle Park, the Sammamish Commons, and Ebright Creek Park. The East Lake Sammamish Trail, opened in April 2006, connects to a regional trail system.

Through the growing pains, Sammamish and it's neighborhoods retain the small-town feel as many of it's 38,000 residents commute to Seattle, Redmond or Issaquah to work.  Bill Rearns East Sammamish Park, Pine Lake Park, Beaver Lake Park, and NE Sammamish Neighborhood Park are four lovely green spaces where city residents can relax and entertain their families.

Schools in Sammamish are provided by the Lake Washington School District and the Issaquah School District. The Sammamish Youth Board and others promote a variety of organized youth activities.

Every year the City of Sammamish holds a celebration of the volunteerism called the SAMMI Awards.  Not only are the volunteers honored in 9 different categories, but talented residents perform in several different types of musical venues.  The nominations are open from October 1st - December 15th every year.  The celebration is held each March.

Sahalee Golf Club in SammamishSammamish is home to the
Sahalee Country Golf Club which has hosted the 80th PGA Championship and the NEC Invitational Golf Tournament, premier golfing events featuring a world-class field of professional golfers.

New homes are also being built at Trossachs near the Aldarra Golf Course.

   History

The Northwest Indians were the first settlers in the Sammamish area.  Many years later, the Northern Pacific Railroad Company was granted land to construct railroad and telegraph lines from Lake Superior to Puget Sound. One of the first Sammamish residents was Jacob D. Reard, who purchased land from the railroad and built one of the first decorated pioneer-style farmhouses. The Reard/Freed house still stands today and represents the community's cultural life and identity, as is the Bengston Cabin, which is one of few remaining examples of pioneer log cabin construction in the area.
